George Finish His Geography Homework Then

Budget your time. If you don't finish your homework at school, think about how much you have left and what else is going on that day. Most high-school students have between 1 and 3 hours of homework a night. If it's a heavy homework day, you'll need to devote more time to homework. It's a good idea to come up with a homework schedule, especially if you're involved in sports or activities or have an after-school job.

Andrew Wiseman, BA '02 graduated from GW with a BA in geography and a minor in political science. At GW (then in Quigley's, where Tonic is now!) he focused on GIS and urban planning, thanks to encouragement from Professors Cheung, Price, McGrath and Lowe. After graduation he worked in various capacities in the GIS and cartography field, working for the District of Columbia Government's Office of Tax and Revenue and the city's GIS office for about five years. That was followed by seven years at the U.S. Agency for International Development's Office of Transition Initiatives where he spent time in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Haiti and Honduras working on data collection, GIS and data analysis, community mapping and cartography. He currently works for Apple on the Maps team. He has been a professor at GW since 2015, teaching Intro to Cartography and GIS to both undergraduates and graduate students. He lives in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in D.C.

The team collected over 100 exterior building surveys and 49 household surveys. By the end of the week, a community that was virtually invisible on Google Maps was fully mapped on Open Street Map (OSM). The survey results and OSM edits were used for creating maps that were then shared with the community for planning purposes. Thanks to this collaboration, PADF plans on recruiting geography graduate students each year to assist with various projects on household vulnerability, infrastructure and disaster preparedness.

Kathleena Mumford graduated from GW with her BA in geography and a minor in GIS in 2012. During her time at GW, she interned with Esri, and then spent the summer following graduation as a GIS architect and database designer for an archaeological survey in Jordan. She is now a geographer for the Department of State in the Office of the Geographer and Global Issues focusing on South Asia and has a 3-year-old daughter. Kathleena also makes time outside her studies and work to train for and run marathons.

The underlying geometric objects that a Google Standard SQLGEOGRAPHY represents correspond to a closed pointset. Therefore, ST_DIFFERENCE is the closure of the point set difference ofgeography_1 and geography_2. This implies that if geography_1 andgeography_2 intersect, then a portion of the boundary of geography_2 couldbe in the difference.
